The 1991 LSU Tigers baseball team represented Louisiana State University in the 1991 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Tigers played their home games at Alex Box Stadium. The team was coached by Skip Bertman in his 8th season at LSU.
The Tigers won the College World Series, defeating the Wichita State Shockers in the championship game.
The 1991 College World Series was played at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska from May 31 to June 8. The forty-fifth tournament's champion was Louisiana State University, coached by Skip Bertman. The Most Outstanding Player was Gary Hymel of Louisiana State University. This was the first year the 8 qualifying teams were split into two double elimination brackets of 4 teams each (the 1,8,4, and 5 seeds in one bracket, with the 2,3,6, and 7 seeds in the other), with the winners of each bracket meeting in a 1 game championship. The NCAA, in an agreement with CBS, switched to this format so there would be one, made for TV, winner take all championship game. Previously, all 8 teams were in one double elimination bracket. In 2003, the dual bracket format was kept in place, but the final series between the two bracket winners was made a best 2 out of 3 series
